Welcome to Wellness Wednesday!

Wednesdays will be Wellness day here on my blog.  When you Google “Wellness,” the image above is what you get.  Good health has been easy for me so far in my life (knock on wood!).  I eat a fairly balanced diet, exercise regularly and get an adequate amount of sleep.

But there are many other dimensions to wellness – and today I’m curious about meditation.  I have downloaded the Simple Habit Meditation app and I’m giving it a try.   According to the app, if you meditate for just 5 minutes/day you can reduce stress, improve focus, sleep better, relax faster, breathe easier and more.  And it’s recommended by both Apple and Business Insider so how can I go wrong?

I did my first 5 minute session a few minutes ago.  I thought maybe it would be all “new age” but it was actually just a guided focus on my breathing that was really enjoyable and very relaxing.  I did a video job interview this morning that I found very stressful and this simple 5 minute exercise took the tension right out of my shoulders.  I wasn’t sure this would be for me – but I think I’m going to set the reminder for the app and try it again tomorrow!

I like to learn something new every day. Something about a short attention span maybe? But it keeps me engaged and growing - and who doesn't want that?
